Actually, the fare served up on one of those look-alike, ubiquitous cable cooking shows is an embarrassment of dishes compared to the cuisine of America’s lean hungry years.
The video shows JJ Gonson, the blogger behind Cuisine En Locale, talking and noshing with Mark Kurlansky, author of The Food of a Younger Land and On Point host Tom Ashbrook. Gonson prepared meals based on some of the Depression-era recipes featured in Kurlansky’s book.
I used my Flip Video Cam to shoot this, figuring viewers are far more forgiving regarding the production values on the Web, most especially if the content is compelling.
